PBR Canada Finals Night #1 (Nov 12/08)

Alberta’s Jody Turner Takes Round One Victory!
CALGARY, AB (November 13, 2008) – The 2008 Calfrac PBR Rocky Cup Canadian National Finals presented by Dickies kicked off with a bang at Calgary’s Pengrowth Saddledome. The top 30 bull riders in the Rocky Cup standings and 10 international superstars took on some of the best bulls that Canada had to offer. By the end of the night, Jody Turner (Cochrane, AB) found himself in the winner’s circle after riding Braithwaite Ranches’ bull, Already Platinum for 88.5 points.
Splitting second, third, and fourth place in round one was Daniel Hansen (Medicine Hat, AB), Kyle French (Red Deer, AB), and number one bull rider in the Canadian standings, Aaron Roy (Asquith, SK). Hansen rode the bull, Bad to the Bone, owned by Braithwaite Ranches; French spurred Skori Bucking Bulls’ Billabong to the eight second whistle; and Roy took on the bull, CPT Black, owned by Big Stone Rodeo---each scoring 86.5 points. Rounding out fifth place was Australia’s Greg Potter (Queensland, Australia) who conquered Calgary Stampede’s bull, Bell Dinger, for 85.5 points.
The 2008 Calfrac PBR Rocky Cup Canadian National Finals presented by Dickies continues on Friday, November 14 at Pengrowth Saddledome for round two. The forty bull riders will continue to take on Canada’s best bulls as they compete for the top Canadian bull riding prize---the 2008 Canadian National Final Champion title.
Tickets are still available for with reserved seating tickets starting at just $15 with fans saving even more with $12.50 seats available at participating COOP locations. All performances begin at 7 p.m. and are a definite must-see for the true bull riding fan. Tickets are on sale NOW at all Ticketmaster locations, online at ticketmaster.ca, or by phone at 403 777 0000. Don’t miss the chance to see the best bull riding action that Calgary will see all year!
Wrangler Chute Out Bonus
As the round one winner of the 2008 Calfrac PBR Rocky Cup Canadian National Finals presented by Dickies, Jody Turner (Cochrance, AB) was eligible to participate in the Wrangler Chute Out bonus. Turner took on Eno/Kubinchak Bucking Bulls’ prize animal, Unibomber. He was unsuccessful and consequently, did not take home the $1,500 bonus check.
