SASKATOON, SK. (October 16, 2009) -Jesse Byrne is writing his own page in the bullriding history books, and he's not the first Byrne to do so.
Jesse has been selected to fight bulls at this year's PBR World Finals. This is the second time Byrne has made the trip, appearing last year as an alternate. This year however, Byrne is going to fight on the main roster.
Last year you were selected to fight at the PBR world Finals as an alternate, this year you were selected to the primary line up, how big of an honour is that?
It's a huge honour. Last year was a great experience and I am really looking forward to this year. To get voted into the PBR Finals has been my goal since I started in the sport.
Now that you have made history being the first Canadian to fight bulls at the PBR World Finals, whats next? Are you going to try and add your name as the second Canadian to fight bulls at the NFR?
In the future I would really like to make the main line up for the Built Ford Tough. I've been doing quite a few events in the US but I'd really like to make the BFTS. Eventually it would be nice to make it to the NFR, but right now BFTS is the focus.
How important is it to have a good group of guys to fight bulls with like you do here in Canada?
It's a huge factor, it really is a team effort out there. The calibre of bull fighters up here, we work well together and just know what one another is thinking, you never have to worry about the other guy.
What are your plans after the World Finals?
Once the PBR Finals wrap up I am headed to Edmonton to fight at the CFR, then in December I have the PBR Canada Finals in Calgary. After our finals there is a little downtime then I will probably head to the states and work some Challanger events until things get busy in Canada again.
